The Get Up Stand Up Foundation is comprised of a passionate group of individuals looking to serve the amputee children population. With a combination of youth enrichment and musical arts, our goal is to connect the two and seek innovative ways to improve healthy lifestyles while living with limb loss!
Our mission is to improve the lives and well being of amputee children striving for mental confidence and normalcy.
We have an amazing crew of caring individuals from a variety of backgrounds who all share the same vision ...to help amputee kids bring normal back to normal! From partnering organizations to single parents to compassionate donors, we all work together to bring awareness to amputee children near and far.
The Get Up Stand Up Foundation is created in honor of a local musician named Gabriel “Gaboo” Mondesir. He was a pillar in the music community in Columbus, Ohio. He suffered from Peripheral Vascular Disease causing him to become an amputee.
Through therapy sessions at Optimus Prosthetics, he realized the cost of getting a prosthetic limb was rather expensive. With a figure quoted at $59 thousand dollars, he knew he needed to find a way to raise more money because he would be $9 thousand dollars short. At that moment, he decided to have a music festival to raise the money for his prosthetic limb and the rest he would donate to charity. That’s when he learned about The Paddy Rossbach Youth Camp and their mission to fulfill the lives of young amputee children and to be the place where amputee kids can enjoy childhood growth activities and feel normal.
With love and unity through music as the forefront of this foundation, we look forward to a prosperous outcome as we introduce The Get Up Stand Up Foundation, a foundation that will help to improve the lives of amputee children while celebrating the gift of life, the gift of love and the awesome gift of music!!!
Just to name a few, our annual Reggae Music Fest will take place in September! Our annual 5K Race will take place in April, which is National Limb Loss Awareness Month. There will be music events per season to help spread the joy and satisfaction of w
